Red Hat Lady Rose
Hampton Court Flower Show 2009
My Fair Ladies at Hampton Court Flower Show Red Hat Lady Rose Five Members of the new 'My Fair Ladies chapter' had a lovely time at Hampton Court Flower Show. The theme of the show was Tudor so the Rose Festival marquee was decorated appropriately - it was all very grand. Henry VIII himself presented the rose with a courtly bow. Margaret aka Lady TattyAnna took the posy and Carol aka Lady Gadabout was spokesperson. Afterwards, champagne and strawberries were served and we spent the rest of the day acting like real celebrities - everywhere we went the photographers pitched in. Not quite the papparazi but a bit overwhelming. We managed to stroll around many of the show gardens that are normally roped off and talk to some of the designers which was very interesting, especially as one of the gardeners was an old friend. We also took free samples in the best Red Hat style. The day was only spoilt by the miserable journey home - M25 was blocked and it took a few hours to do the short distance. VIP Annie from Hatquarters On Friday, VIP Annie from Hatquarters came to the Show and, on behalf of all Red Hatters, accepted a posy of the new rose from Philip Harkness. More details of the rose can be found on http://www.roses.co.uk Rose Information The Red Hat Lady Rose has been named by Harkness Roses to honour the success of the Red Hat Society and its appeal to ladies all over the globe. The rose's rich, pure red lends a touch of magic to the garden, and Red Hat Lady's® sheer abundance of blooms and its compact, dome-form makes it ideal for the front of a border or container growing - for more info: http://www.roses.co.uk/patio-border/268-red-hat-lady.html |
